A Salted Womb: A Staged Reading

Written & Directed by Tiffani Grace

A Salted Womb follows a Black woman with childhood dreams of becoming a mom someday. But as she grows up, she is left to deal with the aftermath of a sexual assault, which results in pregnancy. She encounters her daughter, who travels from the future to visit her during each life stage. Her daughter's presence and influence in her life not only mean a lot to her because of the deep bond they develop, but force her to evaluate whether or not this pregnancy would live up to the dream of motherhood she envisioned.

13 Suits: A Mother’s Monologues

Written by Kathleen Kerrigan Duff & Michael Herman

Directed by Michael Herman

Based on actual events, 13 Suits: A Mother's Monologues is a documentary theatrical experience, initially crafted from a mother's reflections after losing her son. In a Laramie Project meets Vagina Monologues-style event, this immersive play also draws on dozens of personal accounts and stories, as well as powerful statistics, to help weave a timely and poignant cautionary tale… one of grief, loss and healing, in the wake of seemingly insurmountable tragedy.

Sizwe Banzi is Dead

By Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona

Directed by Jon McLawhorn

Sizwe tells the story of a man ordered to leave the district simply because he lacks the proper permit. Instead, he trades his name for a number, and begins life as a dead man… wreaking havoc with his identity, and his sense of right and wrong. Delicately balancing humor and pathos, the work offers both a psychological history of the apartheid nightmare, and timeless parables of the dehumanizing paradoxes of power.
